Going to cut down our Christmas Tree every year in the Santa Cruz mountains is not only one of my favorite Christmas traditions from my childhood, but also some of the only consistent memories I have with my family. This year, as we were decorating for Christmas, I told Rob how much I missed going to cut down a tree. We've had a fake tree every year since we were married which makes sense since we've traveled every year for Christmas (except the year Maya was born). But this year, we were staying home. Not only that, but we were having company! And so the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we went to cut down our very first real Holmes Family Christmas Tree!
The Kissells joined in on the fun and the kiddos loved warming up with hot chocolate and doughnuts.
Sawyer, Kate, Maya
Mallory, Clara
Cute kids so excited for Christmas Trees!
We brought our Christmas Tree home and decorated it that afternoon.
Just as we were putting the star on the top of the tree, it started to snow.
It was magical!
The girls got their snow clothes on and went out to play with Daddy!
I was afraid our tree would look a bit sparse since our fake tree was much smaller than this real one, but I think it turned out lovely. I'm so excited that we started this tradition with our family!
We are so excited for Christmas!!!

Cutting down trees is one of my favorite traditions, too. It's so fun!
Glad you're family had a great day,
Such a cute family :)
I won't admit publicly how we attained our Christmas tree this year. SIGH. This is my favorite tradition from growing up, though, so we'd better get on it before Zoey remembers how we "used" to get trees! :-)
