Sunshine

Our ward had a talent show and Maya and her Daddy sang "You Are My Sunshine".
I wish wish wish I had taped them singing. Maya did such a good job singing with the microphone while Rob played the guitar. It was perfect!

Maya sang the first verses all by herself. And then they sang two additional verses together that Rob wrote. The first one he wrote shortly after Maya was born. We would sing it to her every night when she was a baby. The second one he wrote and dedicated to a dear friend and his wife, after they were killed in a tragic car accident, leaving behind their tiny baby girl, Ysa. We sent these words to Ysa's grandma and grandpa to share with her someday.
It was really sweet for Maya and her Daddy to sing this song together.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried

When you were born babe, I looked in your eyes
I knew I'd love you all my life
And in that moment, I knew who God was
Oh how I love you, my sunshine

If I go should go Love, and leave you lonely
Please know that you will always be
My girl forever, my little baby
Into Eternity
