We drove to Charlottesville, VA to watch the BYU vs UVA football game.
Of course the only reason I agreed to make the seven hour drive was to see the Olsons!
Maya and Zoey were so surprised to see each other once we arrived at the hotel late Friday night. Their reaction in that moment made the whole trip worth it for me. Attending the BYU Football Fireside on Friday night was another highlight. I loved hearing the testimonies of these big and tough football players. On Saturday we spent the morning swimming at the hotel pool, and then headed onto campus to find the BYU Tailgate Party. It was a HOT day in Charlottesville! We were so happy to run into our friends the Lytles, straight from New Hampshire! It's a small world in Cougar Nation! After lots of walking and face painting and Cosmo meeting and Cheerleader greeting and fresh squeezed lemonade, the game finally started! It was really fun being at a Cougar Football game again, and teaching our girls all the BYU cheers. Bad luck struck right after the 1st quarter though, when they announced that the 60,000 fans needed to evacuate the stadium due to lightning in the area. What a pain!
We took shelter in the UVA gymnasium for three hours. It rained liked I've never seen before.
The game finally commenced again but because of the delay, it ended up being a very late night for our four little girls. Oh well, we danced in the rain and cheered as loud as we could for those Cougars.
(Had they won - it would have been a WHOLE LOT BETTER!)
Oh well - we still love them Cougars!

We love them Olsons too! Thanks for agreeing to drive forever and get stuck in horrific traffic to spend a ton of money on a whirlwind weekend in the hottest weather sharing the smallest hotel room and watching the longest and wettest football game ever!
We had fun - hope you did too!

How fun! Totally cute!
I can't even imagine how much fun (?!?) that trip was. I love the picture of Mallory during the pledge. And those BYU cheerleaders sure have some short skirts (!)
Well, looking BACK... it was a fun adventure. Now that my husband is speaking to me again, I guess we would do it again. :-)
Seriously, he was so mad for a week. Good times. We love the Holmes family, too.
Rain and i'll i'd drive 7 hours to see any of those cuties (the two cute Mom's included) :)
How fun! Admittedly much more so had BYU won, but what great memories! Way to stay with it!
